SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF (E)-3-(2-(4-SUBSTITUTEDPHENYL)-1H-INDOLE-3-YL)-(4- SUBSTITUTEDPHENYL) PROP-2-EN-1-ONE AS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENTS

Abstract

The reaction of 2-aryl-1H-indole-3-carboxaldehydes with substituted acetophenones in ethylene glycol and piperidine as a base gives the (E)-3-(2-(4- substitutedphenyl)-1H-indol-3-yl)-(4-substitutedphenyl) prop-2-en-1-one [4a-4f] in 60-70% yield after column purification. The purity of the compounds was checked by TLC in ethylacetate: hexane (3:7). The structures of the all the compounds were established by 1H – NMR, LCMS analysis. The synthesized compounds (4a-4f) were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity.
