Abstract

A simple, sensitive and accurate UV spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of gliclazide in bulk and pharmaceutical tablet dosage formulations. This method obeys Beer’s law in the concentration range of 5 - 30 µg/mL with correlation coefficient of 0.9956 and exhibiting maximum absorption at 224 nm with apparent molar absorptivity of 0.1236×103 Lmol-1cm-1. The method is accurate and precise and is extended to pharmaceutical tablet dosage forms and there was no interference from any common pharmaceutical additives and excipients. The results of analysis were validated statistically and by recovery studies.
