Abstract

Norfloxacin is an antibiotic which is used in the treatment of infectious diarrhea with other anti-diarrheal agents. No case of norfloxacin induced
cheilitis was found to be reported earlier. We have reported a case of the 23-year-old boy suffering from infectious diarrhea who was prescribed with
norfloxacin. He developed very severe cheilitis which got improved when the drug therapy was switched from norfloxacin to metronidazole. This
report will alert the health care professionals about this unfamiliar adverse effect of a very commonly prescribed medication.
